The Build Story

This 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 started life as a basic, stock pickup with nothing more than the standard power options. Over the past five years, it has been thoughtfully transformed into a luxury overlanding rig, reliable enough for everyday driving yet capable enough to handle weekend adventures with ease.

Built by my good friend Anthony at Prestige Ironworks, the bed is a true one-of-a-kind. Hand-made, TIG-welded aluminum with custom panels molded to the body lines, paired with a steel-tube canopy makes it strong, compact, and unlike any flatbed you’ve ever seen. With an integrated sliding drawer system, it’s as functional as it is beautiful. 

Driven on and off daily over the last four years, the Sierra has proven itself as both a dependable work truck and a capable off-road rig. When the week ends, it transitions seamlessly into adventure mode, ready for camping, overlanding, and long weekends on the trail.

This truck has been my pride and joy, and it has served me exceptionally well. I would not sell it for the retail value of this giveaway, but it’s time for someone else to enjoy it. Soon, one lucky winner will take the keys and make their own memories in this one-of-a-kind Sierra.

Engine & Drivetrain

Under the hood, the 5.3L V8 runs strong with nearly every hose, gasket, and belt already replaced. In 2021, it received a brand-new transmission and transfer case, along with rebuilt driveshafts, keeping the 4x4 system dialed in and ready for action. Recent maintenance includes a fresh oil change, new air filter, and all the little details dialed in. With ice-cold A/C and solid heat, this truck is road-trip ready in any climate.

Suspension, Wheels & Brakes

This GMC Sierra is equipped with 2.5-inch leveling keys paired with brand-new Bilstein 5100 shocks on all four corners for improved damping and handling. The rear suspension features Deaver U182 leaf springs and Zona Motorsports shackles, providing increased travel and enhanced ride. The front end has been fully serviced with brand-new hubs and brakes at all four corners. It rides on a complete set of 17x8.5 Fuel Covert wheels mounted on 315/70R17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers, including a full-size spare.

Exterior Upgrades

On the outside, this Sierra has been completely reimagined with a full FiberwerX 2018 Denali front-end conversion featuring 3-inch bulge fenders and a fiberglass hood with a functional scoop. The truck was repainted in 2021 in deep black, with the job carried through the door jambs and under the hood. Custom high-clearance front and rear bumpers improve approach and departure angles, while the hand-built, 8-foot TIG-welded aluminum flatbed with an integrated sliding storage drawer makes this build truly one of a kind. The rear doors are works-of-art with an integrated spare tire carrier and dual RotopaX FuelpaX 2.5 Gallon Gas Containers. The bed interior has been fully coated in Line-X for maximum durability, and a custom tube roof rack was added to mount the tent and solar panels. For visibility and safety, the truck is outfitted with a 270-degree camera system and four LED light bars, including amber dust lights for off-road conditions.

Camping Setup

Mounted on the custom roof rack is a Badass Tents Packout rooftop tent equipped with the optional rainfly and a brand-new mattress, making it a comfortable spot to crash after a long day on the trail. A collapsible ladder makes setup and access quick and easy, so you can be off the ground and relaxing in minutes. Power is never an issue thanks to roof-mounted solar panels feeding dual batteries and an onboard inverter, giving you reliable power for lights, cooking gear, or charging devices no matter where you set up camp.

Interior Upgrades

The interior has been completely upgraded with creature comforts in mind. The cab is lined with two layers of sound deadening and finished with brand-new carpet. Aces Racing seats with 4-point harnesses provide comfort and security, while a custom center console houses a JL subwoofer and the screen for the 270-degree camera system. The audio system includes Focal speakers and a CarPlay head unit for modern connectivity. A suede headliner and pillars, paired with a suede NRG steering wheel and hub, give the interior a refined finish.  Factory power windows, locks, and mirrors add everyday convenience.
